Mad for Pizza in Tomas Morato, Quezon City

Mad for Pizza is a new pizza bar in Tomas Morato, QC which opened last May 2014. They specialize in toppings all-you-can pizza at P280.00 with forty choices of garnishes. Mad for Pizza is located on the second floor of Il Terrazzo on the corner of Tomas Morato Avenue and Scout MadriƱan Street.

We Filipinos love pizza and we have a specific flavor that we prefer over the others. Now matter how good a chef is in developing pizza recipes, how high the quality of the ingredients is, or how well a pizza was prepared, there's always this certain ingredient that we wanted to have more or less of, or we wanted removed or included in our pizza.

Our taste in food has truly evolved over the years and paired with our hunger for customizing things to suit our personal taste, customizable pizza has become a huge hit across the Philippines. Imagine having Hawaiian Pizza with twice the amount of pineapples because you simply love their sweet and sour refreshing taste. Or how about a pizza with more than five types of cheeses and lots and lots of blue cheese. Your imagination is your only limitation.

So how does it go? First step is to choose your pizza dough with options of the classic white dough, the herb dough, the garlic parmesan dough, and the spinach dough. Second step is to choose your base sauce for your pizza. You can choose from their four sauces namely the house pizza sauce, the roasted garlic alfredo, the fra diablo (spicy tomato cream sauce), and the BBQ sauce.

Last step is to choose all the toppings you want among Mad for Pizza's 40 different garnishes:
Mozzarella Cheese, Parmesan Cheese, Romano Cheese, Asiago Cheese, Cream Cheese, Cheddar Cheese, Blue Cheese, Feta Cheese, Provolone Cheese, Red Bell Pepper, Green Bell Pepper, Onion, Roasted Garlic, Sliced Mushroom, Spinach, Zucchini, Capers, Olive, Pineapple, Artichoke, Corn, Oven Roasted Tomato, Meatball Crumble, Italian Sausage, Grilled Chicken, Pepperoni, Steak Slices, Parma Ham, Ham, Bacon, Calamari, Shrimp, Clams, Mussels, Anchovy, Basil, Rosemary, Oregano, and Cilantro.
The pizza will then be cooked in Mad for Pizza's brick oven and will be ready to be served within five minutes. The pizza is 10 inches big and is divided into six slices. If it is your first time to customize a pizza, we don't suggest to be over adventurous with the toppings. You can start by requesting common pizza flavors and customize them by adjusting the amount of certain ingredients or by adding one or two more ingredients to your pizza. Another option is to research for award winning pizza recipes online and have it replicated by Mad for Pizza. Mad for Pizza also has three flavors of ready-to-order pizzas at P250.00.

During our visit at Mad for Pizza, we were also able to sample some of the best sellers from their menu. There's salad if you are watching your weight. The House Salad is a refreshing mix of lettuce, tomatoes, mangoes and hard boiled eggs. But if you are looking for man food, then you can probably start with the Disco Fries which is topped with ground beef, tomatoes, onions and drizzled with cheese sauce and garlic mayonnaise.

Alternatively, you can have the Rock N' Roll Nachos with a generous topping of ground beef, tomatoes, onions, black beans and smothered with cheese sauce and garlic mayonnaise dressings.

From the pasta department, we tried their Beef Stew Pasta with rigatoni cooked in a tomato based sauce and then mixed with stewed slices of smoky Angus beef belly. It's a hearty pasta with a smokey, sweet stew flavor.

Another best-seller is the Amboy. It's basically Angus beef belly cooked in adobo sauce. The Angus beef belly is super tender with the semi-sweet adobo sauce flavor evenly infused into the meat. It is served with rice and a side of corn. It's a combination of flavors of American and Filipino cuisines thus the name.

Pork spareribs BBQ is one of my favorite comfort food and Mad for Pizza's Tennessee Pork Spareribs is one of my highly recommended dish in the restaurant. It the flavorful BBQ sauce flavor and the tender meat that I love. And it's a steal considering the size and quality of the ribs.

If you are looking for a lighter meal, there's the Chicken Crispers. The chicken are lightly flavored, not too salty and not overpowering with flavorings. It is served with fries and honey mustard dip. This is also ideal for kids.

Another light meal offered at Mad for Pizza is the Classic Fish & Chips. Just like the Chicken Crispers, the fish also tastes light and fresh. The tender dory fish is wrapped in a crispy breading, creating an interesting combination of flavors and contrast in texture.

Finally, no meal is complete without dessert. The Banoffee Cobbler is a delicious combination of bananas and cream and drizzled with chocolate and caramel syrup. A sweet way of finishing a hearty and filling meal at Mad for Pizza.

The restaurant can seat 80 to 100 people, enough space to accommodate customers during the busy hours of lunch and dinner. Students and employees of the nearby offices are the usual guests during weekdays, while during weekends, Mad for Pizza is filled with families and barkadas.
