Experience the Flavors of Thailand at Cucina of Marco Polo Ortigas Manila



Thai cuisine has become one of our favorite South East Asian cuisines because of the diversity of spices and flavors used in preparing its dishes. Though located in South East Asia itself, the Philippines only has a handful of restaurants offering authentic Thai cuisine, prepared and cooked by professional Thai chefs. That is why we were thrilled when we heard that Marco Polo Ortigas Manila will be flying in Thai chefs to showcase the authentic Flavors of Thailand at Cucina, the hotel's all-day buffet and a la carte dining restaurant.

The Flavors of Thailand theme buffet will only be running from November 9 to 15 so we made sure we won't let this limited opportunity pass without trying the dishes prepared and cooked by the guest chefs from Thailand. The first dish we tried was the Som Tam or the green papaya salad which is a very simple salad dish made with shredded unripe papaya. To try this salad dish, just head to the salad station and Chef Sunisa Nualthongkaew will prepare your Som Tam whether you like it spicy, mild or not spicy, just tell her how you prefer your Som Tam.



Chef Watcharavee Rujechotiphat awaits guests at the noodle station as she prepares fresh batches of Pad Thai, one the most in-demand dishes at the buffet. If you chance upon her at the station, make sure you watch her live demo so you too can cook Pad Thai at home.

Here's my plate with rice and two types of curry, Massaman Beef Curry and Red Curry with Roast Duck. I particularly loved the duck in red curry because the meat was very tender and it did not have the gamy taste of the duck. I also had a serving of Pad Thai on the side.


We also ordered Thai Milk Tea which went perfectly well with the Sticky Rice & Mango dessert.



Flavours of Thailand is only available until November 15. Do plan your weekend lunch or dinner enjoying the authentic taste of Thai cuisine at Cucina. The buffet is open daily for lunch from 12:00nn to 2:30pm and for dinner from 6:00pm to 10:30pm. Buffet price starts at 1,850 net per person, children aged 6 and below get to eat for free while children aged 7 to 12 years old are charged half the price.
