Egg-it Hong Kong Style Waffles with a Twist in Kapitolyo, Pasig

Egg-it is a hole-in-the-wall snack store in Kapitolyo, Pasig serving Hong Kong style waffles with a twist. The store got its name from eggette, the common name of this snack. It is basically made of a batter cooked in a special pan that creates the distinctive small spherical shapes of the waffle.

It all started with a trip to Hong Kong, says owner, Jay Isais. Eggette is actually a famous street-food in Hong Kong. I find the egg flavor of the original Hong Kong eggette too strong, so I adjusted it to suit the taste of Pinoys. While eggette is traditionally eaten plain in Hong Kong, we made it more exciting by topping them with fruits, jams, chocolates and cream, thus creating a unique line of egg waffles with a twist. Jay shared with us their three best-selling egg waffles during our recent visit to their shop in Kapitolyo.

Black Pepper Spam with Cheese

The Black Pepper Spam with Cheese (P90.00) is the only savory version of their egg waffle which contains bits of Spam inside each sphere and is then topped with cheese dressing. If you love black pepper spam, then you'll love it more with this version of eggette. It is a complete meal in itself and is best paired with iced tea.

The Bananutella (P90.00) is a dessert waffle topped with slices of banana and drizzled with Nutella. The spheres are more compact thus more filling. It's a perfect breakfast eggit waffle that goes well with brewed coffee or hot chocolate. It's good for sharing.

Mango Caramel

The Mango Caramel (P90.00) is dessert waffle topped with mangoes and drizzled with caramel. It has a perfect balance of sweetness from the caramel and sweet-sourness from the mangoes. It is a refreshing dessert that is perfect for an afternoon snack. It is best paired with iced tea and is good for sharing.

Egg-it Menu

Egg-it's other waffle flavors include Blueberry with Strawberry Syrup, Cookies and Cream, Rocky Road, Reese's, and Tiramisu. You can also customize your egg waffle by adding your choice of fruits, syrups and other add-ons. If you want two flavors in one egg waflle, you just have to add (P20.00) and you'll get a 2-in-1 eggit waffle.

Aside from their store in Kapitolyo, you can also find them at the Greenfield Weekend Market (former EDSA Central Market) every Saturday afternoon.
