Yee Sang (Yu Sheng in Mandarin) is a raw fish salad consisting of over 20 ingredients including salmon and shredded vegetables. Each ingredient represents blessings of abundance, success and prosperity. This is also called the Prosperity Toss salad wherein members of the family participate in the traditional tossing of the salad. The higher the salad is tossed in the air, the higher the increase in one's fortune.

The pomelo is said to add luck while the pepper attracts more money. Carrots is for blessings of good luck, the green radish is to symbolise eternal youth, and daikon (white radish) symbolizes a prosperous business. Seasonings like peanut crumbs means a household filled with gold and silver, the sesame seeds brings flourishing business, and the plum sauce gives a sweet life.
