San Juan Surf Resort in San Juan, La Union

San Juan Surf Resort is a three-star resort located at Urbiztondo Beach in San Juan town of La Union province. It was established in 1992 by Australian surfer, Brian Landrigan, and has grown to become a 35-room surf resort with an attached surf school owned and managed by Filipino-Australian surfer Luke Landrigan. San Juan Surf Resort is currently one of the best surf schools in the Philippines.

We arrived at San Juan Surf Resort at around noontime from a six hour bus ride from Cubao. The official check-in time is at 2:00pm but since our assigned room is already vacant and ready, we were allowed to check-in earlier, free of charge.

We booked a Standard Aircon Room at Php1,760.00 per night which already includes breakfast for two. The resort has several room types and not all room types have hot and cold shower, so if you are particular about hot and cold shower, make sure to specify this when you book your rooms.

We were assigned to a room located on the second floor of the main building. The room has a double-size bed with clean and fresh covers. The room is cooled by a window type aircon is equipped with an LCD TV.

The bathroom is very clean and they have good water supply. It has its own shower heater so hot shower is available 24 hours. WiFi access is only available at the restaurant area.

The resort's open-air restaurant serves mostly Filipino dishes. Service is fairly fast by the friendly wait staff. Dishes are cooked fresh and serving size is quite big and is proportional to the prices. Good value for money. Complimentary breakfast is also served here. You can choose among a variety of Filipino set breakfast.

The resort's Surf School caters to surfers of all levels. Surfing lessons are conducted by a personal instructor so that the instructor can focus on the student. Guests can also rent surfboards, kayaks, skimboards and stand-up paddleboards.

If you are planning to visit San Juan La Union, the best time would be from July to October and from November to March.
