Applebee's Philippines Opens First Branch in Bonifacio Global City

The long wait is over! Applebee's Philippines today opens its doors to the public at the W Global Center in Bonifacio Global City. Applebee's is an American chain of casual dining restaurants serving classic American dishes including burgers and ribs. Applebee's is a subsidiary of IHOP and in the Philippines, the local franchise is owned and operated by Global Restaurant Concepts.

Last September 12, #TeamPinasMuna was privileged to be invited in an exclusive event to formally open the first branch of Applebee's Philippines in BGC. The event was attended by no other than the management team of Global Restaurant Concepts led by its President and CEO, Mr. Archie Rodriguez.

The store's blessing was immediately followed by a ceremonial grilling of ribs to mark the formal opening of Applebee's in the Philippines. The event was witnessed by the family and close friends of the owners of Global Restaurant Concepts, as well by some members of the print and online media.

Just like in any Applebee's branch around the world, Applebee's BGC has a bar area where beer, cocktails and other alcoholic beverages are served. Located on the second floor is the restaurant's main dining area. Notice that the restaurant's interior uses a lot of warm wood and leather, and the staff's uniform altogether reflects the Midwestern United States origin of Applebee's.

During the opening event, #TeamPinasMuna and our friends from TheHungryKat.com were able to sample some of the dishes offered from the menu.

Onion Rings (P295.00)
Edgar is a big fan of onion rings. It is one of the very few vegetables he eats, and he won't eat onion if it were not in this form. Applebee's Onion Rings have thick cuts and are fried to golden perfection. Crispy on the outside, batter not too oily, and the onion stays crisp, sweet and moist in the inside. The serving size was also big enough to be shared by a group of 2-3 persons.

Cowboy Burger (P525.00)
The Cowboy Burger is a huge serving of burger topped with crispy onion strings, melted white cheddar cheese and Applewood smoked bacon, and served on a toasted bun with BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. This burger is served with salad and fries on the side.

Pork Ribs (P650.00/P950.00)
Applebee's is world-famous for its ribs and during our visit, we made sure that we didn't miss the chance to try the Pork Ribs. Served with corn on a cob and fries, the ribs were very tender and flavorful.

Chicken Tenders (P375.00)
Another must-try are the Chicken Tenders which are filleted chicken breasts coated in a batter and fried until golden. Served with fries, these chicken tenders will surely be a hit for kids and kids at heart.

Churros S'mores (P245.00)
To end the evening, we had the Churros S'mores for dessert. The churros were crispy on the outside but moist in the inside. They were not oily at all. I also love it that the churros were sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon, giving it more flavor and depth. But most of all, it was the chocolate dip with toasted marshmallow that sets this churros apart.

It is quite universal to celebrate everything over good food. Any culture can relate to this, including us Filipinos. With great tasting burgers and ribs, steaks and wings, as well as sandwiches and salads, it is not surprising that Americans choose to #CelebrateEverything at Applebee's.

Congratulations to Global Restaurant Concepts for bringing Applebee's to the Philippines and for opening its first branch located in BGC. We are looking forward to the opening of your second branch in Eastwood City. We do hope more branches to follow so that Filipinos will have more reasons to #CelebrateEverything.
