Post Last Updated: August 8, 2014

The biggest festival in Mindanao will once again put Davao City on the spotlight as the annual Kadayawan Festival celebrates the city's diversity of culture and bountiful harvest this August 2014. Come and visit Davao City and experience the most colorful and vibrant festival in southern Philippines.

Visiting a city during a huge festival entails a lot or preparation and visitors often encounter challenges in planning for such trip. Here are some tips to help you better plan for Kadayawan 2014 and to ensure that you enjoy this unique experience.

Official Schedule of Kadayawan Festival 2014

The highlights of Kadayawan 2014 are scheduled during the third weekend of August. Last May 26, 2014, the Davao City Tourism Operations Office announced on its official Facebook page that Kadayawan 2014 is scheduled on August 11-17, 2014. This means that the biggest events of this year's festival are expected happen on August 16 & 17, 2014 so mark these dates on your calendar as early as now! We recommend that you should already be in Davao by August 15, 2014.

Theme of this year's Kadayawan sa Dabaw is Kalambiang sa Kinaiyahan: Kadayawan sa Katawhan which translates to Nature's Flourishing: People's Well Being. Here are the schedules of the highlights of the festivities of August 16 & 17, 2014:

August 16, 2014 (Saturday)
Highlight of the Kadayawan sa Kadalanan (Street Celebration) is the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan. This street dance competition highlights the rich culture of Davao City through dance. Each group represents a tribe with its own unique culture, traditions, art and history. This year, Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan will start at 9:00am. The parade will follow the route San Pedro Street - Pelayo Street - Bonifacio Street - C. Bangoy Street - Magsaysay Extension - C.M. Recto Street.

August 17, 2014 (Sunday)
Highlight of the Kadayawan sa Katanaman (Floral Celebration) is the Pamulak, a floral float parade that showcases Davao's flowers and fruits that are artistically arranged into decorative floats. The Pamulak will start at 8:00am and will follow the route Magsaysay Avenue - C.M. Recto Street - San Pedro Street - Pelayo Street - Palma Gil Street.

Hi HeartGem! Thanks for visiting pinasmuna.com. We have received notification for AirAsiaZest that has temporarily suspended their service between Manila and Davao effective July 1, 2014 due to network re-alignment. This means that there we be no AirAsia flights between Manila and Davao during Kadayawan. It is still uncertain when they will restore the servicing of this route.
