Masskara 2013 is slated to happen on the long weekend of October 18-20, 2013. The highlights of the festival are the streetdance competitions happening on October 18 (Friday) at 2:00pm for the School Category and on October 20 (Sunday) at 9:00am for the Barangay Category. Most festivals in the Philippines either observe a religious feast, showcase a local product, or commemorate    a significant historical event. In contrary, MassKara Festival celebrates life itself - a life full of joy and resilience.

Now on its 33rd year, MassKara Festival has become one of the most famous Philippine festivals known all over the country and around the world. The festival made the world truly small. Don't be surprised if you bump on someone you know back home, standing with you in the crowd to watch the festival's streetdance competition.

With the colorful masks and costumes, MassKara Festival is a clear manifestation of Bacolod being the City of Smiles. It also illustrates the fun-loving nature of the Filipinos.

Countdown to MassKara Festival 2012

Attending Bacolod City's MassKara Festival will definitely be one of the highlights of our travels this year. MassKara is considered as one of the most colorful and vibrant festivals in the Philippines and has already gained popularity among Filipino and foreign tourists.


MassKara Festival 2012's official website has been recently launched to provide up-to-date details and schedule of this year's line-up of activities. The website also bears the festival's logo for 2012 (see image above). Designed by nine Bacolod-based artists, the logo illustrates the city's "vibrant, dynamic and thriving art scene." This year's theme, Life's Good in Bacolod, will also dominate the streets and buildings of the city.
