Free the Sea Movement 2 | Nalu Surf Camp, Baler



September, known to be the coastal cleanup month, was the perfect month for Reef to have organized Free the Sea Movement 2 which happened last September 29 until October 1, 2017. We were fortunate enough to have been invited to be part of the three-day event to promote responsible travel and environmental conversation. This year, they took the participants to Baler – one of the top surfing spots in the Philippines.

After staging a successful national food fair in August, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is launching another national fair to promote and sell Filipino handicrafts under its Sikat Pinoy brand this month.

“This is the second edition of DTI’s national domestic trade fairs under our newly introduced Sikat Pinoy brand,” DTI Undersecretary for Trade and Investment Promotions Ponciano C. Manalo, Jr. said.

With the tagline “Piling-piling produktong Pilipino”, the DTI will hold the Sikat Pinoy National Handicrafts Fair from September 19 to 23 at the SM Megatrade Halls, SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

World Renowned Filipino Icons Feted At Capitol Commons

For its Festival of World Class Filipinos in Capitol Commons, Ortigas & Company will feature acclaimed artists such as Kenneth Cobonpue in a series of free exhibits and shows that are open to the public.

In celebration of its 82nd anniversary and the launch of their most recent masterpiece – Capitol Commons, premiere property developer Ortigas & Company brings world-class Filipino acts back to the local stage with the month-long Festival of World Class Filipinos at Capitol Commons. From May 25 to June 15, each Saturday will feature Filipino artists who have received international acclaim for their talents.

On June 1, an art exhibit will showcase Filipino paintings and sculptures. The artwork will range from traditional subjects and forms to modern, statement pieces.

The Home Experts will take the stage on June 8. Starting 6pm, chefs Claude Tayag and Vicky Pacheco will reveal what makes them kitchen superstars with a special demo. An exhibit of beautifully designed contemporary Filipino furniture by Kenneth Cobonpue will also be on display.

To cap off the festivities, models will be walking down the catwalk clad in fashion’s hottest names. The show on June 15 will feature Michael Cinco, Amina Aranaz, Herbert Custodio, Roel Rosal and Albert Andrada.

Mercato Centrale will organize a food market featuring different gustatory delights. All events are free and open to the public.

Capitol Commons is the newest urban destination in the southern part of Ortigas Center. Located at Meralco Avenue corner Shaw Boulevard, Capitol Commons stands at the former site of the Rizal Provincial Capitol. It can be accessed via Shaw Boulevard, and via Capt. H. Javier Street near ULTRA and Valle Verde Country Club.

The 10-hectare mixed-used development will feature posh retail establishments, state-of-the-art office spaces, modern living units, and a full range of amenities. Fifty percent of the development’s total area will be dedicated to wide, open spaces, making it an ideal destination for relaxation and enjoyment.
